Hi, I signed up as a member on sunday.
My membership was activated long enough for me to submit in the Defining Feature challenge, but since then it seems to not recognize me as a member. i.e no Update button, cannot vote on member's challenges and shows me this box with "Support DPChallenge : become a member" :-)

Anyone knows how long this process takes and how to get your membership activated ?

There is an initiation ritual. It's a long and humilating experience. I'm not at liberty to make any disclosures. (jest)

Payment by e-check takes approximately 4 business days to clear.

Sounds very strange. Contact the site admins and get this sorted out. You can do so under the "Help" option on the navigation bar at the top of the screen. My membership was activated immediately. Perhaps there was a problem with your payment?

I'll wait a few more days.
Though the transaction status shows as "Completed" on my paypal account.

This just happened to me also. I just joined, and I had full access to the site. Then I closed the browser and opened it back up, and now I have limited access as though I am not a member.

when i paid by e-check it took me a full week to get my member status.

When you say e-check, do you mean PayPal? On the dpc confirmation page, it says "Payment Status: Completed" It also said, "Your payment has been accepted, and your membership has begun. "

I'm not complaining, I just wondered why it worked until I closed my browser.

e-check is through paypal if you paid from a checking account through your bank.

This may have nothing to do with the problems described here, but PayPal acknowledged serious problems in the last week with their systems since October 8:

I never got an email that my account was going to expire... I was only able to send an e-check due to paypal problems... grrrr... "software update".... don't they have a QA department?

Thats great in theory, but PayPal has been F-ed up for over a week, and I only had the option of sending an E-Check or using funds in my account.
