Was out in the garden with the 50mm f/1.8 MK1 today. The original is unedited in any way, but is the cropped version better - discuss

of the 2, i like the cropped version better
if it were me, I would have cropped to only one "pod", but I would have included the out of focus orange bits on the left ... i like those :) |

I both like and dislike both. I like the background colors in the first one that fills up the negative space on the left. Although there are some stray leaves coming into the frame on the right that I do not like. In the cropped version the focus is more on whatever it is and you have some of the colors in the background but again you have a stray leave coming into the frame. How about a crop of the original but not as close as your current crop? Get rid of the extra leaves but leave in the background colors. |

Thanks for the comments, and I must agree. I quickly did another crop taking them onboard, so, version III...

Of the three I like the second one best.

Its kind of difficult for me, as a 6x4 I think No2 is best but as a larger picture I'd go for No3, but then again I do like the original (with a little editing). Simple subject, difficult descision.

I like the third version best as well.
We have quite a few of these in the yard again this year. I really have to get around to photographing them, but it's been so windy lately. I really don't know what the scientific name for these flowers is, but around here people just call them chinese lanterns.
Here is a shot I did last fall.
I know, I know... it's a bloody partial desat.

Thanks for the crop Tyrone, looks good but my only worry is that the main 'fruit' leads me out of the shot. Jeez, how can such a simple shot cause me so much worry? Am still thinking number 2 is best.
