I went to the drag races @ Maple Grove yesterday. Here are a few of the pics. C & C welcome and appreciated.

What a job!

These guys completely tear down and rebuild the 7,000+hp engine in 75 min. without talking.

Powerplant for an old school slingshot style dragster

Capturing a dragster that is doing 330mph is pretty challenging. Check out the shape of the rear tire.

Top fuel!!

Two of the Big Dogs of racing Tony (Sarge) Schumacher, and John Force.

Good shots, spydr...yep. I know how hard it is to catch those damn things!

Used to go to Santa Pod, in UK, to watch and photograph my neighbour...Brian Johnson on his Top Fuel bike, Imperial Wizzard...No 1 plate for years. Check out his history in the USA, world top rider for a long time.

He retired 2 years ago aged 55, said 232mph was getting a little scary. Set record time that year 6.1 secs.

6.1 on a bike is insane!

Great photos spydr! Shots 3, 4, and 5 are my favs. If you get a chance, try shooting a night race. I think the flames from the nitro cars would make for some good shots.

We used to go to the drags all the time when I lived in California. Mostly at the old Irwindale Raceway (before they turned it into a brewery), and the Winter Nationals at Pomona Fairgrounds, but a couple times at Lyons and OCIR too. Now I live in Oregon, and the only things these rednecks race is horses, cheap stockcars, and their mouths. :) There̢۪s a track close by in Woodburn, but no nitro, just alcohol. I think the nearest top-fuel racing is up in Seattle. After seeing your photos, I think I̢۪ll have to make a trip up there one of these days.

Your right, night drags are awesome.

I used to live in So Cal also. Been to the races @ Pomona a few times myself. Man do I miss the west coast!

Yah, he̢۪s a character. I once installed a windshield in his car. Don Steve̢۪s Chevrolet in Whittier California was one of his sponsors at the time, and he drove one of their ElCaminos. After I put the new windshield in I got a tour of their carrier truck. The setup they had in that truck was awesome! Funny cars are very cool toys!
