I am just amazed that although it is only October 4th there are already 13 people submitted, is it just me or is this something strange? Surely it is better to wait a while seeing as it goes all month. These early submissions must be from people who do not understand the challenge rules or from complete idiots I need help deciding which it could be.

I certainly wont be submitting until the end of the month.

You can always resubmit a new shot. Why not submit one if it is a good one?

You can always resubmit a different picture... this way you can make sure you don't miss it accidentally.
I'm NOT one of those 13, though :)...

Well they probably submit and then plan to change their submission should they get something better later on...I won't submit until the end of the month, but then what do I know...LOL

I am one of those 13 people. I am not an idiot, and I understand the challenge perfectly well. I can always resubmit if I take something better, but I happened to take a wonderful photo on October 1st. Get a life.

In the Master's Open Challenge, I submitted my photo in the first 2 weeks, knowing full well I would take hundreds (if not thousands) more photos during the rest of the month. I just knew that was going to be the one. Sometimes, you just have a feeling...

And as others have said, you can easily resubmit another photo if you change you mind. Some people just like to have a photo in there. They don't have to be idiots or confused, just eager.

Geez, that's harsh. I took a photo yesterday that I really like and I'll probably submit it for the free study. I'm not entirely sure why taking a photo I like early in the month makes someone like me an idiot...

you need to stop taking things to heart and get a life yourself or maybe a touch of humour in your life would help. It was just a comment to rattle the box a bit and it worked I have a great life.

There was nothing humorus about your comment. It was meant to be insulting and I took it as such.

If there is an "idiot" in this thread, I think we are all aware who that would be.

By the way, I already know what I will be shooting for the new challenge. I'll see if I can get that in for ya tomorrow.

No, I found it patronising, and as most people seem to have already commented, completely irrational.

I was actually the second person to submit. I was taking pictures on the 1st and one of the shots was exactly what I was looking for so I submitted it. I still have the rest of the month to come up with something better but that will be difficult. That will be a challenge in itself.

I was number 12 and I'm no idiot -- I know a good shot when I see one!

On the 2nd I took one the was crisp, technically correct and has a wonderful Awwwww.... factor. I loved this photo enough to submit it. Now, being that I'm not an idiot, if something better shows up later on in the month I'll resubmit. But for for those of us that have a life that's way too busy -- it's one less thing for me to worry about.

Now. if I only had a Parts photo......

What is Krispy Kreme? Certainly not here in Germany!

Sorry...only in Canada maybe? Krispy Kreme is a coffee and donut-place...

Being German myself (I was born there), however, I can assure you that you have access to much better pastries!

I am one of those 13, and believe me or not, the shot I entered was a long time planned shot (wanted to do this for myself) and it happened october 2nd...
It turned out very good so I submitted it for this challenge...
OK I'm not saying it's a blue ribbon, because it's a love me or hate me thing, but technicaly it's very very good.

I'm not a complete idiot, if I happen to take a better picture I can resubmit....

Well I guess I owe everybody who submitted early and everyone else who was offended by my rash statement an apology so here it is -:

I APOLOGISE TO THOSE I OFFENDED, IT WAS NEVER MY INTENTION TO SERIOUSLY UPSET PEOPLE AND TO SECURE MY HONEST INTENT OF THIS APOLOGY I WILL NOT POST IN THESE FORUMS ANYMORE> IF YOU TOOK THE TIME TO READ ALL MY POSTS THEN YOU WOULD SEE THAT THIS WAS INDEED VERY MUCH OUT OF CHARACHTER FOR ME. ANYWAY THERE IS NO EXCUSE PLEASE FORGIVE MY MENTAL EXPLOSION.

An apology is not really much compensation to hurt feelings but I hope it helped and its all I have. As a punishment to myself for this outbreak of insanity I will not be renewing my membership or posting anymore rubbish like this, I am now officially a SILENT member, my membership runs out July 2005.

Once again Apologies to those affected. Thank you.

Not being in the middle of this, but throwing in an opinion, I don't think you need to punish yourself so severely as to "quit" the site. There are lots of lessons here for everyone. Many have slipped up in judgement a few times. I'm pretty sure the people who were offended aren't looking for blood, your sincere apology should be sufficient.

Now, now, now Marac. This line of thinking is another outbreak of insanity. We don't want you to drop off the edge of the planet or out of DPC. Just a little understanding on why we submitted when we did was needed on your part. I wasn't offended -- shoot my preteen children are convinced I'm a first class idiot!

So please continue to play with us -- just relax and have fun. This is just a really big game and along the way we hope to learn a little something from each other.

God, you need to stop taking things to heart and...maybe a touch of humour...would help [omissions mine].

I'll be the idiot. I'm used to it, and it's my village too. Let's ease up a lil.

For what it's worth, I put up my Master's shot 5 days after it was announced. Never changed it, never went back and messed with it.
It can and does happen.
