My wife and I are going to Niagara Falls for our thirtieth anniversary. If anyone has been there and would have any tips for photographing the falls, could they please share them? |

Niagara Falls is beautiful in person.
I was there a week ago and I must say, the thing looks very boring in pictures. Its not very photogenic, maybe just because everyone has covered all the angles. The only ones I like are the night time shots with the colors in it.

If you have tripod, I'd love to see some long exposure shots of the water movement. Also, definetly see them at night, the coloured lights shining on the falls are pretty sweet. You should be able to get part of the Canada skyline with the CN Tower in the shot to make things more interesting... |

When are you going? I live here in Niagara Falls (CANADA )The lights are on the Falls from 7:30 pm until Midnight 7 days a week . They have a fireworks display on Friday night at 10:00 pm and Sunday night at 10:00 pm over the Falls .Niagara on the lake is a very nice place to visit some amazing winery tours of the local vineyards .PM me if you need any information. Bring your Tripod and make sure you have a lense cleaning cloth ,the mist off the Falls gets all over your lense . |

I have PM'd you regarding the shots of the falls. I have an album of night shots of Niagara Falls both from the American and Canadian side hosted at www.webshots.com. Try this URL: //community.webshots.com/album/197633876fzTmWE. There are two shots in my portfolio here but the rest you will find at webshots. Any further info you need PM me and I will be happy to send you F-stops, shutter speeds, and specific locations.

i definitely agree, go to the canadian side, and bring your tripod. they also do fireworks over the gorge on i think friday nights... definitely bring your tripod for night exposures when they are lighting up the falls, it's gorgeous. you can get some great views of the falls from up on the skylon tower... they also have a great revolving restaurant (make reservations well in advance) which would be perfect for an anniversary dinner. it's truly a great place to vacation, the falls are awesome. good luck and enjoy your trip!
