I feel as if my photos have a soft focus.
I am also getting comments about it.

I have no idea what couse it.
I cleaned the filter on the lens.
The camera does focus. What is wrong?

Thanks.

Do you have any examples you could share, with settings you used? It would be easier to figure out when someone sees what you are talking about.

Without seeing samples of your pictures it would be difficult to give a good cause of the soft focus. Could be lense, settings, etc.

Post some pictures with lens and settings and I'm sure someone can help.

Interesting that some people mistake soft focus and bad focus as the same thing or the other way around.

Ouch. Whats the different?

How about this two:

First one looks ok to me for an image that hasn't been sharpened either in camera or during post processing.
Second one just has shallow depth of field.

Candles: I was goinf for shallow depth of field. So that's OK.
But I still feel as if there is a problem with the focus.

How about this one:

I forgot to say I used tripod i both the candles and the fruits...

Now that one does look a bit off focus. What's the lens you are using and what's the setting like for the wire guitar?

What do you mean by "hasn't been sharpened either in camera or during post processing"?
How can I sharpen in camera? I only focus... ):

Regarding the fruits - this is how it looks AFTER I sharpened it
with Photoshop...

Lens 28-90 from my ols SLR (Canon Rebel 2000).
I don't have the info for it. My computer broke a
week ago, and I had to get a new one. All the info was lost. ):

By the way Xion, I just visited you portfolio, and I just loved those two:

Well sharpening is different to focus. I don't really know about different setting on the Rebel. But I am sure there would be different modes or settings at which you can produce the image. Like on my camera I can choose to get my shots sharpened in camera - meaning the resulting RAW or JPEG file would already have gone through a shapening filter when written to the CF card or whatever the medium. I don't use in camera sharpening and I wouldn't advice to use it either unless you want to print direct from the camera.

So the fruits shot is an already post processed shot with even sharpening applied ... Well, to be honest, the best way would be to put your camera on auto focus, make sure that whatever mode you have on it would only allow you to take the picture only when the chosen area is in focus, then just resize and show an example.

Thanks Yael, puts a smile on my face.

Just got back from adding comments too. (:

Thanks again Yael :), truly appreciated. Both of those images were those moments when you know that you need to take a shot of that place.

Ouch again! I am using auto focus!!! ):
And I use one focus point too. ):

Maybe I should try taking a few shot with another lens, and see
if I get a better focus....

Yep, if you try a different lens, you might at least know if it's the other lens.

Oh the parts challenge! Well I have an entry in it and I am not a happy bunny.
