My 10D keeps telling me my batteries [I have a grip with two batteries] are empty even after only using it for about 45 minutes [as was the case last night] even when I fully charged the batteries before use.

Anyone dealt with this before?

When I put the batteries back on the charger they're barely less than full.

So why the mixed messages?

I did buy them used.

Why would they say they're charged on the charger but dead in the camera?

sometimes when a battery is charged too many times, the maximum strenth that its able to charge to starts to diminish, so the charger charges it all the way that it feels is possible, but the camera reads the voltage output as not enough.

i had that problem and you know what was weird? I found if i pressed the battery down in the charger and held it there, it would stop saying they were fully charged and actually go through the charging cycle.

might be something to try.

also try to clean the contacts on the battery and the charger, maybe they are dirty and its not getting an adequate connection.

Non an owner of a dSLR so I may not know what I'm talking about but weather and temperature may effect the battery.

Warm and cold temperatures may effect the charge of the battery. Last week I took pictures in a cooler temperature and used up 2 batteries and 1/2 charge of another to take about 500 shots and normally 1 battery could take the same amount of shots.

I know it's not the weather...I haven't used these in any diverse weather, just nice..relatively warm.

I know it's an actual 'problem'. A grip that should last 6-8 hours wouldn't just die in 45 minutes due to the weather.
It's irritating to say the least.

But I bought them used so let that be a lesson if I can't fix them!
