To me, it seems the opposite. That there are all kinds of possibilities. I think that this could be a very interesting challenge.

Hmmm. Yes, I agree - so many possibilities. I wonder if 'The Universal Mind' (Collective Consciousness) wouldn't mind signing a model release with me? Some consider her to be the ultimate source, afterall? Sigh - I'm just not technically adept at photography though, I just know my lighting and focus wouldn't do it justice, let alone convincing the voters that it met the challenge ;-)

I am glad the challenges are stated the way they are. It makes you think more about the challenge and makes a greater vareity of pictures.

I'm really sorry you felt you had to remove that image. I thought it was fantastic, and would have voted it highly.

Definitly a wrong call Katrina, this image would have done well,
Ignore the build up threads to the challenges, there are bound to be multiple instances in any challenge,
a shame,
Paul.

Oh come on now you are telling me that if this was the 10 can phones picture you seen you wouldnt score lower just from repetition.
Now I am starting to regret it a little. Stop it!

riotspyne, if you have followed the thread and have a doubt about your photo...which is a very good photo of the challenge...being only one of many of the same subject, then you did right to remove it.

However, ideas get tossed around and many people will do as you have, and not use this idea. This could result in one, maybe two people using it and scoring highly.

Use the same enthusiasm displayed in this shot, modify the idea and submit another photo. I have noted an improvement in your pictures over the past week, so just get the thinking head on and go for it!!

If that really was your picture and it was taken within the challenge guidelines for communication I would definitely remove it from your portfolio right now and submit it! It's only been viewed 15 times so not too many people would have seen it yet. It's an incredible moment captured and I would have given it a high score!

Edit: Sorry for the bold but I really think you should submit this shot!

I don't think so...it only had 17 views and I went back to look at it about 4 or 5 times myself!

I personally don't think it would be a big deal at all...

Edit: It happens occasionally that new members will post their entry into a forum asking for opinions and somebody will tell them that they should remove it...by which time a bunch of people have seen it anyway.

Exactly what I was thinking. I figured this would be the cell phone cups and string challenge.

Far fewer cell phones but a much higher percentage of cups and string than I would have expected.

I didn't use any cans or phones or towers. But i'm getting hammered in the score went from a 4.5 to a 3.4 in 12 votes.
At least I had alot of fun doing this one. Go ahead bash away lol there's always the brown ribbon.
10/13/2004 01:42:41 AM · #46
A lot more cans and string than I had imagined. Looking at the details in each one of them– some look interesting. Did I miss something, are they no fax machines?

I thought so, went back to look but didn't immediately see the other so I thought it was my imagination and gave up. Maybe I'll take another look now that you mention it.
