I have a tripod (Benbo Trekker Mk2) which I can screw in to the battery grip of the 20D with no problems, so the question is if I buy the Manfrotto 141RC Basic Head with quick release can I attached it to the tripod with no problems?

Yes, Tony. I have a hexagon plate on a quick release with a Manfrotto and a square one on a second tripod (also Manfrotto with quick-release). All fits like a glove. ;-)

I think the original question was whether the Manfrotto head will fit onto the Benbo tripod, not if the Manfrotto will fit the 20D. I'd be curious to know this too. |

You do have a point, Nicole, and I no case, no opinion. I promise to actually read posts from beginning to end in the future. M'excuse, s'il vous plait.

You are right Nicola..
Does anyone have the Manfrotto 141RC Basic Head, if so, does the screw from the quick release screw into the base of the Manfrotto 141RC Basic Head , if it does it means I can buy this head knowing it will fit on my tripod.
Sorry for any confussion - Tony |

That comes from spending too much time with those barbaric Scots. It's affecting your English. |

If I understand your question; you have a tripod (Benbo Trekker) that has a mounting stud. You have choosen to directly mount your camera onto this mounting stud. Your question is will a Manfrotto head mount to this stud and subsequently the detachable plate to your camera.
Yes.
There are a couple different size threads out and about, but every Manfrotto head that I've seen comes with an adapter. A small threaded insert (both ID and OD) that is used or not used depending on the stud thread size of the tripod you are attaching the manfrotto head to.
The only tri-pods (to my knowledge) that you cannot attach a Manfrotto or other manufacturer's head to are the tripod's where the head is permanently affixed to the center column. But even then, if a person wanted to affix a different style head to the permanent one they could.
If I have mis-understood your query, forgiveness is requested. |

Thanks, that's helpful! I was wondering about the different thread sizes, didn't know the Manfrotto heads come with an adapter. |
