I've been visiting the DPC site for about a month and find it very interesting and informative, there are a lot of very good photographers here. More importantly you seem keen to share your expertise with the likes of myself.

So today I took the plunge and became a member. I've uploaded a few photo's and would like your opinion. Only I'm not sure how to post the link correctly.

I've read the tutorial on posting and understand that the best way is to post a clickable thumbnail. I've got the full sized JPG's in my portfolio.

What I'm not sure about is how to get the URL of the full sized image, because when I click on them it takes me to the portfolio edit screen?

Also, do I have to upload the thumbnail into my portfolio also, to use it in the posting?

I bet these seem like stupid questions to the regular posters. Sorry to be such a nuisance with my first posting as a new member.

Open up another browser window and browse to the image you want to use.

The URL will end in something akin to "IMAGE_ID=72349"

Simply use that number at the end for your thumbnail :)

So, no need to upload a thumbnail at all.

There is no such thing as a silly question ..... just ask my 10 yo !!!!

Thanks, Natator....

After much brain ache I relised that I was over complicating things and didn't need any of that tutorial, its only for links to other web sites, which I think should be made clear.

Anyway, your opinion on my first uploaded photo's would be appreciated. Guess what, I live near the coast....

Thanks.

Some really great photos there :)

I especially like (and I do really like it) the wheel on the beach, that shot is just sensational!

Hope you have a better shot than that for the monthly challenge shot, as I think that shot would do really well in a challenge :)

Welcome to the asylum, Blackdog!

Looks like we have another fine photographer to compete with.

I think your photos are quite stunning, I am sure there would be a big market for the lighthouse in the storm...shades of Athena prints there.
I too like the atmospheric shot of the wheel on the beach.

Good Luck and enjoy your time here, and I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful seascapes.

Hey there Blackdog. Welcome :)

You've got some wonderful images there. The wheel on the beach is awesome!! I also really like the colours and composition of Dock's Beach, and the lighthouse, and .....well, they're all great! Look forward to seeing your challenge entries.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated with particular reference to Tranquil, do you think this version is better, cropped as suggested also adjusted the Levels.

Yea that's good improvement. Now the focal point is really evident. Good work - keep it up!
