A challenge that is straight from the camera for the Masters or Members only.
Only allowed to resize for loading on the site!
No other manipulation allowed!

Reminds me of the The Past challenge we did ages ago. It'd definitely be fun to try this again tho!

| I hated the 'past' challenge... I took some great shots that week that I REALLY wish I had taken with my usual settings. There is a good reason for people who are comfortable with digital photography to use minimum sharpening, saturation and contrast and add these qualities in PS. The most important in-camera setting I use is minimum contrast, which results in my photos looking a bit washed out until I add contrast in PS. The reason for this is so that the camera captures the widest possible tonal range, which it won't do with a 'pretty' maximum contrast setting. And in-camera sharpness looks good for challenges but is nowhere near as good quality as using min. sharpness in-cam and adding in PS. It takes FAR too much time to keep changing the settings in the camera for a challenge like this while still taking shots for myself, and this is why most people who have been taking digital photos for a while would not be comfortable with this challenge. |

This has been requested at least 4-5 times now on the site..
It'd be reeeaallly nice if this was done.
Can I ask if it's in the randomised challenge list?

Good challenege idea but has its problems as lots of cameras have on board effects and many people shot raw which must be post processed.

Wouldn't this challenge give an even bigger advantage to the high end (not just dSLR) cameras than usual?
I love it in theory, but am not sure it would really be fair.

Almost every camera that shoots RAW can also shoot JPEG - it's not out of the question to do so..

I think most photographers with a half decent camera should be able to take a good image without photoshop work. Changing to Jpeg shouldnt change the image itself with a lot of my work I rely on the camera and until recently didnt know how to use photoshop I only have adobe and Arcsoft
Images can be great without all the enhancements
Although I do admit the professinal users of photoshop do an excellent job, and that in itself requires a lot of skill and time some beautiful work on this site
Most of us have gardens or can visit a garden so why not a challenge on that.
Just a thought!

I think that would be fun and interesting - it would also serve as one of the best learning exercises this site has done.

Most of the photos I enter for challenges are straight out of camera, just resized. Perhaps that's why I don't score very high?
At least everyone else would be down to my level. |
