Purchased this lens with the 20D.
This is one of the first shots I`ve taken with it..on a tripod with window light.
The setting was(ISO 100)..just over 1 second at 5.6. on manual@85mm
All I have done is crop and resize.
After adjusting contrast with levels and sharpening
EDIT..Images now removed to make space in my portfolio.

Gordon,
Thanks for the info. How about posting a 640x480 (not reduced) portion of a shot, so we can see the lens sharpness without reduction or sharpening?
It would be an interesting thread to get a sample of a lot of different lenses "unprocessed". I realize it would be an uncontrolled study, but it would give us an idea how they perform. We could all try to shoot the same thing in the same type of light ;) |

Hi Gordon
Was going to pm you about what you think of your 20d Plus this lens, How do you find it, (the lens that is), is this photo at 10mm or narrower? you don't fancy doing a forth road bridge at 10mm so I can see how wide you can get ..
hopefully we will get better weather this weekend to have a good playaround with the camera.
Go the battery grip yesterday ... Cool |

As requested Neil,
The sharpness in this particular shot when viewed at 100% was not very impressive..but that could have been down to the poor lighting conditions and the auto focus.I would have used manual focus..but my eyes are probably worse :)
I`ve certainly no complaints with sharpness in good lighting conditions.

Hi Tony,Unfortunately, I`ve had such a busy week with footballing commitments & other things that I just haven`t had the chance to do much with the camera.
I`ve had one day out (last Sunday)and by coincidence, it was at the Forth Bridge..the widest the lens goes is 17mm but I found that more than adequate for anything that I`ll need to do.
I`ll have to have a wee blether with you about the battery grip and it`s advantages. Anyway..here`s a shot from Sunday taken at 17mm.
