This question has probably been asked and answered before, but I'm fairly new to dpchallenge. How do I post a picture? I don't understand URL. I would like to have the thumbnail show, and then have it open when clicked on. Thanxs for your help.

do you want a pic from your dpc profile?
09/29/2004 11:31:56 PM · #3
Its real easy.

Just go to the photo you want to dislay. Click on properties. There will be a 5 digit number there. Copy that 5 digit number only.

When you go to post, hit the insert thumb nail tag above.

Paste the 5 digit number.

Add Tequila and a lime, and your done.

How about a photo from my hard drive. Do I have to put it on my dpc profile?

You either need to put it on dpc or have it hosted somewhere else online.

The above explaination is for posting an image from a member's portfolio -- pay the membership fee and get (amoung other things) portfolio space.

As a registered user you will need to host the photo somewhere else and then link to it from here. PhotoBucket is a good, free place to start with until you learn what you are going to need.

Here is a previous thread on the subject with instructions on posting thumbnails from photobucket, "How can I post pictures?".

Thank you very much. INtill now i have only kept my photos on my hard drive so I had not realised that I needed to put them online in order to post them on this site

Thank you everybody for your help. I became a member a few days ago, so I will try to post using my portfolio space.

There are good reasons to post from a third-party site instead of your portfolio. One big one is the portfolio space is seriously limited and you may want to remove an image to make room for others later on. By posting such things as outtakes and alternate post-processings (even of the photos of others asking for help) from a third-party site such as photobucket keeps the links active for those looking through old threads. This also lets you keep your portfolio space for showing your ever-changing best. But there are a number of ways the portfolio space is used.

It is worth considering. But there are a number of ways the portfolio space is used.

just use the thumb button on the post edit page and insert the image ID number (and, most importantly -- just the number).

This make them clickable.
