Hi Everyone,

Just did some reading on the hp website about photo paper printing technology on their injet printers. Basically, you need to choose between:

fade resistance (excellent with their new combination of a specific photo ink cartridge and specific photo paper) which they say it resists fading for 73 years, which I am really excited about!

or

Water/moisture resistance, for which you would use a different paper that dries very quickly, but is not very good for fade resistance.

My question is: at a traditional photo lab, does their processing excel in both of these areas or do they have the same problem with water/moisture resistance?

Just wondering as I would like to use an injet printer for photo sales, but don't want to if it is inferior in any way to the traditional photo processing, particularly in humidity issues.

Please give me any insite on this if you can:)

Thanks, bj

I'm not sure on what HP offers, but you can bet your bottom dollar that a $50,000 mini-lab machine will give better quality than any inkjet printer.
As for light-fastness, you'd have to consult the mini-lab, or find out what model print machine they use and contact the manufaturer. They would have details like light-fastness, humidity resistance, etc...

I'd go with the fade resistant and just make sure you keep your roof fixed and don't move to Florida...
