Great shot, Jeremy! Out of curiosity, have you tried cropping the lavendar off? Not trying to mess with your picture - I just feel the urge to play with it! Hope you don't mind.

I like it, too. I am not going to do anything to it, just wondered if you had tried different options, and if so, what the results were like.

Wandering far out on a limb here...;) What is it that you like about the image? This is part of my ongoing attempt to understand what others see in various images.

Really nice shot, but I think it's much better if you crop it.

It seems straws are a pretty popular subject...I've seen a number of similar shots. I think the heavy shadows in this give it an interesting feel as compared with some of the other similar photos I've seen. I do tend to agree though, this would probably be better with a tighter view on the lower left hand part of the image. |

Well, the first thing I love about it is the way the colors scream out at you. The Way I set up the light, I was able to really pull out the colored lines in the straws. Again with the lighting, you get the feeling that the straws are growing in size, from bottom to top.
Personally, I don't think it needs to be cropped. Sometimes too tight of a crop is a bad thing, and I think it will take away some of the color in it if I do try and crop it.
No, I have never seen that image before until now. I got the straw idea out of a book and threw some of my own twists on.
