So sorry for all those who have suffered during this terrible Hurricane Season. My parents have, so far, been spared around Tampa. My SIL's daughter made out okay in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It took over a week to hear from her son in Kingston, but he is okay. They were the lucky ones. Others in Jamaica are also suffering badly.

Yes! Look at that crazy path of Hurricane Jeanne! ... and now Ivan is resurrecting? What is THAT about?

By the way, Terry, that depiction is unfortunatley too true.

I to am in Tampa Karen and have gotten quite lucky. I used to live on the Outer Banks, NC and was used to getting blasted by hurricanes each fall, figured when I moved to FL id be more safe.. ya right.

I wish strength of heart and clarity of spirit to those in the most trying and painful of situations.

And that Ivan ya.. wicked. In 11 years living on "hurricane ally" I never saw a hurricane break apart and reform like that.. it almost seems like they are alive sometimes the way they move.

Did anyone get any good pictures of hurricane weather? Like palm trees bending over, that sort of thing?

I'm in Vero Beach helping the folks, but may have to leave today for Orlando. Been taking bunches of shots, but no way to post them. Be back to dry Colorado in October. Van

I'm in Western North Carolina (like 300 miles from the nearest coast), and we have been beat up by both Francis and Ivan. Freaky. Places that have never flooded were under 8 or 10 feet of water. I'll try to post some pictures sometime. Nothing artistic, just documentary. :-)

Must be a new weather phenomenon... El Meano.

Actually, I heard a meteorologist comment that this was really not an unusual hurricane season, but, that the southeast United States, Florida in particular, has just been extremely lucky over the past several years.

The same guy DID say that Ivan was almost off the chart as far as hurricanes go.

Having lived through a natural disaster myself, I have the greatest sympathy for those enduring hardship at the hands of Mother Nature.
