I've read that some people duplicate the layers and edit them in advanced editing... does this mean I could make a duplicate layer of my image, make some adjustmens like shifting the hue and then erase parts of that layer so that the original layer shows through? I'm just trying to edit a shot and I want to make sure I'm fully legal. I think this is okay. If this has already been discussed, a link to the appropriate thread would be a good enough answer for me. Thanks in advance!! :)

Thank you, and as always, Daniel, thanks for your help. I really think you're one of the nicest people on this site. :) And talented to boot! ;) Have a great night!
