...when you don't have any photos entered in the current-running challenges. :( and i STILL haven't thought of anything creative for "touch." i've got 5 hours to take/download/edit/save/upload an image! ;) i just have to enter something, i can't go the rest of the week without a submission!!!

If you think you just have to - go ahead and do it.
But ... you would not be too plaesed to see your entry not doing well.
(Saying all this because has happened to me)
So, unless you want to 'challenge' - don't.

yeah, i think the reason why i'm not "pumped" to do one is because of my low scores in recent challenges. i won't enter anything unless i feel it's worthy. i don't like to enter just to enter... but man, it's lonely without anything to update. but i sure am taking in the forum discussions!! :) excitement abounds!

I know what you mean, I just can't get into the "touch" challenge either. I tried lots of ideas but one was worse than the other :( And as bad as my stopped motion is doing, I think I'll sit this one out. Not that my scores are that great compared to some but I've been pretty happy with them so far.

When I didn't enter 2 challenges in a row, I did miss my image there. But I took the time to think about the new challenges and tried to come up with ideas with them. Also, I tried to photograph things unrelated to the challenges - things that I want to photograph. I did vote on the challenges and commented too. Was good to see how other people approached it. I don't think anyone would be able to come up with something they are happy with for every single challenge. But there are so many options. Take a break and let your brain recover and enjoy other things like the forums and voting and commenting + whatever you have missed out on life because of trying too hard on DPC.

I know what you mean!

I've not entered since Neon as I've been busy, but have just uploaded one for Touch, to keep in touch. (urk, bad pic pun)

I voted on a couple of challenges, but I can't get motivated to vote on all images
or comment on many when I'm not getting my own efforts taken appart by the voters.

Although that wont be a problem for touch, the blue is in the bag, assuming I can convince the other 238 people to unsubmit now... :-).

Great advice, Aznym. :) I appreciate it, and I think I'll take your advice. You mean there are pictures to be taken OTHER THAN those that would be entered into dpchallenge? ;) Wow, it's a whole other world!!

It's very liberating to skip a week or two. I missed a few challenges recently and felt much more energised when I finally did get back into it. Have a rest! :-)

It's even worse when you don't have anything entered AND you have good ideas for the challenges. I've been so busy that I haven't even picked up my camera this week. When I logged on for the first time after midnight on Sunday, I was confused for several long minutes because there were no images showing up on the left side. I thought the site was broken or that D&L had made some design change. After 7 months of continuous pounding on the update button, you expect to see some pictures over there. :-(

I did the exact same thing... I kept refreshing... and then I remembered... I'm the big loser who didn't enter!!!! I'm so sorry you haven't had time, because you're an AWESOME photographer and I love to see what creative ideas you've come up with.

And for the record, I thought of something for "touch." It might be lame, but it was "touching" to me... so we'll see...

but it is exciting when you're sitting here waiting for the sports challenge to end with a shot at a top 10 almost certain and dare I say a shot at a ribbon!

The site isn't as exciting...

â�¢ when you get high marks for a mediocre image and you can't enter a better one because you know 90% of the voters will not consider it a better one.
â�¢ when you have half a dozen images which meet the challenge and you know the image doesn't meet anybody's idea of it
â�¢ when your current entry creeps up from 3 to 4.something, and you have 4.000 shots left to edit
