the linked photo was taken by a scout camera mounted on a tree and triggered by a motion sensor... it's not a great looking photo, but the subject matter has to be one in a million concidering the shot was captured randomly...
Bad Day For a Deer
I dunno, maybe he was trying to show him the way out of the forest?

At first, I looked real quick and I was like "ok... two deers and man, one of them is pretty low...".
After taking more than one second to look at it, I understood the title of the thread.
Cool shot! :D |

You know what? What are the bets that the flash going off there saved that deer's life?

my guess is the deer didn't get away.. the cat is not blurry meaning he probably hasnt sprung and is right near the end of his stalk.. about to spring

I reckon they were best friends and having a secret love affair and the picture kinda busted that all out on the wildlife society rags. Or else they decided to moon the camera after drinking too much banana beer. |

okay, so how did you get so close and not get eaten yourself?

That shot is just too weird. I've never seen or heard of a cougar getting that close to a deer without pouncing. If this is newly observed behavior, it is remarkable!

I'm thinking he wasn't there. It was a rigged setup set to go off with a motion detector. The photographer was probably many miles away, safe and sound.

Not that the photo isn't impressive, but it would have been incredible if the picture was taken in mid pounce.

lol what kid in the background? the shot was taken with a scout camera mounted on a tree that went off randomly when the critters triggered the motion sensor on the camera...

There are some great animal stuffers in this world and they do complete ones for props so the game warding can catch people hunting. But you never know.......looked pretty real to me.
