I have to say of course my kids and husband are the absolute best things in my life, without a doubt. But lately I seem to have no passion, feeling very lost in this world. I dont know how to get out of my own way somedays. All I seem to do is be angry and I cant pin point any good reason. Music and art used to make me joyous but not even that helps anymore. :( Sorry guys, feeling very emotional. |

I hear you hun, been there, done that, still have days like that, which is why I answered breathing. When I came back from vacation I was an absolute witch for over a week, post vacation blues were just horrible.
WHen I had my last child I went through some serious post partum depression as well, which was finally diagnosed and I was put on Paxil, 10 mgs a day help keep me on an even keel and from blowing up and killing anyone, so far ;)
See your doctor, see a counselor, get some help, don't be shy and don't be afraid.
Deannda
Hang in there ((((hugs)))) |

Yeah, don't be ashamed of beind 'down'. It happens to everyone, not to belittle your own experience. Take comfort in knowing that this sort of depression is really all mental, I'm no doctor, but with all the wonderful blessings in your life, I'm sure you can find a way to turn things around.
Really dig deep to find the source of your anger and displeasure. |

The first (big) guitar/bass/keys/drums/tuba/sax/hammond chord of The Mysteries, at the RNT in late 1999. Every time it gets dull, predictable, petty, pointless-seeming, bland, or plain dirty, I remember that.

I am sorry to hear you're going through a tough patch. Depression seems to be one of the few remaining taboo topics and yet so many of us suffer it to some degree or other during our lives. If you are finding it hard to deal with do not hesitate nor feel bad about asking for some professional help from your GP. It doesn't have to be medication, it may just be a case of relaxation techniques, or massage or counselling. Just take care and know you WILL come out of the other side. HUGS!

You and I would be great friends if we lived closer! Except, I'm not going to wrestle with your son. :) |

Have a great trip, hope it will start you on the path of emotional renewal. And surely you don't think all the rest of us who post here only post when we have something useful to say? I only recently started an entire thread on FARTING, for goodness sake!
:o)

Sounds like you're living how I am dreaming :-)

A friend of mine went thru the same thing a she may be a couple of years older then you (she'e 40 something) and I told her to go home (she works afternoons) and sit on her husbands face. Since then she has been EXCEPTIONALLY happy. No pun intended but it could just be that you are stuck in a rut and need a change.
edit: to many beers to spell correctly

My everyday life does not look like what my passion is. With a 10 yr. old, a husband, college age daughter and mother-in-law all living under one roof, there are simply things that have to get done.
I look at life as a series of "seasons", and I'm looking forward to when life can return to something a little more simple. In the mean time, I tend to choose my committments with a lot of thought and prayer. I am a pretty contemplative sort of person and I pretty well know myself and what gifts I might have to offer others, so that's the direction I tend to take (although I don't discount discovering new passions or gifts as well.)
By doing that #1, I don't begrudge the time I spend on those things and #2 I am able to say "no" to some things. I am blessed to have a career I like (I'm a Realtor) which gives me lots of flexibility to choose to participate in my kid's lives, church events, or just plain time off. I don't have to ask the boss...I AM the boss.
I've managed to get past the point in my life where someone else makes me feel guilty for the decisions I make to take time for myself. That's their problem, not mine. I even try to emphasize that to my girls. I have told them if they need a day off of school, just to let me know. If they are responsible and doing well in school, then I will be more than happy to allow them a day off once in awhile. That way, they don't have to develop some phantom disease. It worked well with my 22 yr. old...she took maybe 2 days total. My younger daughter who will be 10 in a few weeks, hasn't used a "day off" yet. I will also just do spontaneous things with them, just to have fun. I'm willing to look a little foolish to have some fun. I just started playing volleyball 3 years ago after having watched my older daughter play for years. It's fun, it's healthy, and it's free (church league.) We play games a lot too.
My point being that I think a lot of people today don't take time for mental and emotional health. I will take the state routes instead of the Interstate, just to see new things. I wish I could do more of that, but I plan on doing a lot more traveling when our family committments are a bit more simple.
I'm sure that's way more than you asked for :) Maybe you've stumbled across one of my "passions"! Simply enjoying life.
