My entry in "Smoke" went like this. I decided which shot to use. I thought "This looks GREAT". I entered it and said "This looks real good". After entering it I said "This isn't bad". A few hours later I looked at it and said, "This is O.K.". After seeing how bad it's doing, I looked at it real hard and said, "Man, this really sucks!". Has anyone ever had that happen to them?

That happens to me a lot, except I always [eventually] decide that I liked my entry anyway and everyone else is crazy ;)

Yep, my 'smoke' entry, I've come to the conclusion that I need to take my pic as soon as possible so that I have a few days to change my mind before the deadline :)

What's most important is that you like it! Don't let the dpc voters get you down, there are many excellent photos here that never made top30. :-)

This is sooo true. And my excellent photos haven't made the top 150! :)

I've peaked at 3.7 in backlighting. :/

Unless I get lucky, I won't be submitting for the team sports action challenge. Just too darn much to do in the little time that's left.

Well after my Travel guide picture scoring 6.612 and placing 16th and my Backlight still going strong at 6+ I thought, Man! I am a real photographer, I CAN make good photo's.

So I submitted to smoke with a realy realy realy good picture, this is realy the best I've done and I was thinking that I would score a minumum of 6.5 with it....

Well, I can tell you: I'm not a good photographer, and I'm where I belong, at the middle of the pack, and with my feet on the ground again.

4.35

when submitted i thought:

it fits the challenge. it's in focus. it looks nice. i thought it to be quite a stylish shot. took me an age to get it how i wanted it. high fives definite, maybe even a 6.

4.35

annoyingly i haven't had a single comment yet, so i don't know where it's gone wrong. and YET, the backlighting shot is the most boring thing i've ever entered, and it's 5.5! what the blazes?

It can be tuff, David, but everyone has very different tastes. My smoke challenge picture is at 4.1313 right now! It's a cute shot, but I was hoping for at least a 5-6. I'm not going to let it get me down, I'm just going to keep shooting and having fun!! By the way, I think part of the problem is with this web site. I changed my photo in my profile and somehow I still look ugly!! (If you can't laugh at yourself...) :)
