I am sort of stuck now.
I really wanted to produce something good for Travel Guides and from the shoot I did - which wasn't an easy task, I was finding it hard to decide between 3 shots and this is the one I entered:

It didn't do well. 92nd place (52%) and 9 comments.

Here are the other 2 I was finding it hard to decide between:

My question is not really if I would have done better submitting something else. But I would like to know the cases for and against each of them.
Anyone want to help me see more clearly?

I really liked the picture you submitted, but I thought you could crop it a little harder on the bottom. The stony ground was too distracted to me. I would prefere more sky instead.
but still, I think the one you submitted is definately the best of the 3 for this challenge.

The third one is really cool! I love it's point of view. Where did you take it from? the air? :-))
but I don't think it would be the kind i'd find in a travelGuide, so I would probably score it lower if it would have been your submittion.

The second one I just didn't like :-( Sorry... It's totaly personal taste... nothing specific about the photograph itself...

:) I know there's a lot of ground in the one I submitted. I did have doubts about it. It's hard or impossible to tell from my shot, but people go there with a towel or something and sit on stretch down on the ground and that's the angle I took it from. That's how you see the town when you are there.
The third one wasn't taken from the air. I climbed a hill to get the shot. It's actually a close up from the same spot the second one was taken from. But the second one was a forced crop - see the format.
Well, it makes me feel much better to know that there are others who would have chosen the same shot. As previously mentioned, I am not looking for how well it would have done. Just asking what anyone else would have done if these 3 shots were on the plate.

IMO I think all three are nice. But I would have to say I like #2 better than 1 & 3.
I did not vote in this challenge because I'm not a member and I have not seen many pictures from the challenge. Again this is just my AMATUER opinion. I looked at each picture as if I was picking up the brochure and which would be pleasing to my eye.

#1 I think this is a great picture and probably the best of the three if you would of done some cropping but as is, I like #2 the best. I'm a little distracted by the rocks I think they take up too much of the bottom of the picture. Maybe cropping some of them out would of helped.

#2 I really like give sort of a panoramic view, not cluttered and makes it look like there is more to see and do in the town/beach especially if a person was looking for a relaxing vacation.

#3 looks very congested, lots of cars and people. Some may think it's a little over bearing if they were looking for a relaxing vacation.

Hope this helps.

2 gets a higher vote from me as well. It especially looks more like a travel photo, enticing somebody to visit a whole area or city rather than showing a few buildings that aren't immediately recognizable.

Out of the three, I like the one you submitted best. It shows the detailed character of the buildings better, has a more interesting perspective and it highlights the texture of the beach and those two wierd towers. What are they? You could crop more of the beach off, but - it's almost more geometrically interesting to have the center of the line of buildings centered on the middle of the page with equal amounts of sky and rock above and below.

I liked the submitted one best too. I liked the perspective that you chose to tell the story. I gave it a 6

Yes, it does help and thanks for your insight. When it comes to opinion, everyone is equal in my world. The image is there and you see it and you feel something about it. That's what I am interested in. Thanks for your time and insight. Most of the things you mentioned about all of the images are thoughts that did cross my mind when I was trying to make a decision. But you have mentioned things that didn't occur to me and have looked at them from a different perspective. Now I will have to make sure I don't do the same mistakes again.

weird towers?
They are street lights - ( modern ) - the area where I live, they have really old street lights + these sort of lights. Nice contrast :)

Thaks a lot everyone for the thoughts.
What I have realized from the post so far is that I really didn't have anything that stood out of the crowd.
It's time to sit down, relax and think for a while.

Again, thank you Jinjit, SDW65, thatcloudthere, mhoogendyk & atorguy (first come first served) :)
I really appreciate it. Best of luck to you all. Enjoy clicking that button.
