*cries* I just came back from a retreat and guess what they did the first night? Had a "snowball" fight with blue balls and then ran and jumped into a pile of pillows...

I have some awesome stopped motion photos that I can't use. -_- This is getting really frustrating because I'm having a really hard time shooting and finding subjects/time for challenge entries because of school...I didn't get to enter any of the challenges this week and I doubt unless there's a football game or something tomorrow that I'll be getting a Team Sport one either.

EDIT: Oh, and I got some cool Backlighting photos too...of course...

That sucks :(

Why not post some of the images you did get, either now or after the challenge, so we can enjoy them anyway :)

Great idea! I'm sure you'll get comments.

I have to figure out how to edit them to my satisfaction first. -_- With the way my on camera flash worked I'm having trouble editing them to get the best color.

I was originally going to post them in the first message but I couldn't get it worked out...

I feel your pain Ann. I haven't entered since neon, too busy with school. I'm hoping I will come up with something for stopped motion.. maybe I'll go with all-popular water drop shot ;-).

I actually got a shot today that fits both team and stopped action, but I know it's not by best work and it won't do well so no sense in wasting voters' time.

Anyhow, I applied for a photographer for the student newspaper. If I get the job, at least I'll have some responsibilty/incentive to go out and shoot (and some extra beer money).

I hope you get the job! I didn't know that you had to apply to be on the Yearbook staff so I had to basically beg my way into being a volunteer this year. *sighs* I'm doing page spreads and taking photos if I want, lol, it gives me a great excuse. ^_^

Actually I think that's a pretty good shot. Nice composition, sharp action, good DOF, nice colour balance and almost perfect exposure. I'm guessing that would have (or will, if you sneakily remove it) got a 6.

Stopped Motion ... meaning everything in the photo is frozen, or can we stop the subject and still blur the background so that "motion" is evident even while stopped???

Looking at the winner of the first 'Stopped Motion' is seems that blurred backgrounds are acceptable

That blur looks like the 5.6 apperture and shallow depth of field, as opposed to motion blur. He would have had to pan pretty fast to get motion blur at 1/1500 second.

I expect to see a lot of waterdrops falling in a sink filled with water.
I wanted to do a shot like that this week, just to practice and see if I too could do that, but for this challenge I will try something more original (I hope)

do you think these are the type of pics voters will be looking for?

Man, do I have a thing against dog shows...

And yes, I think so.

I took this about a month too early. Well, had someone take this of me anyway. And yes I landed on my feet.

I am in the same situation here. It hasn't been months for me, but my internet went down about two weeks ago and I haven't been able to submit anything until now. I am so happy to get back into shooting challenges.

I did quick edits of all my outtakes - including the ones taken at the retreat.

I have no idea how to fix redeye in PSP and there was no way to avoid it when taking the photo because I had to use the speed flash to capture the action.

There's lots of problems with all of these, not least of all being the flash and motion blur in the non-flash ones. ^_^

EDIT: They look kind of bad too because I saved them fairly highly compressed...I can upload a better version if you ask. None of these look anything like my entry.

Not sure how people are going to react to my entry. I'm going out on a limb with this one in more ways than one :P It's stopped motion, but it's not really "action", so I expect a lot of negativity for that in itself... then there's the subject manner and the title.

*chuckles*

It'll be fun to see if anyone gets it.
