Hello Good People!
It's me again with yet another PS questions. I was wondering if it was possible to use the brush functions on layers that are not adjustment layers. What I would like to do is be able to use the black & white brushes to reveal the background layer & replace the foreground layer like I can when I use an adjustment layer.
Any thoughts out there? I know I can use the eraser but it makes it more complicated to replce the foreground using it.
thanks in advance!

You certainly can. Select the top layer, then from the menu select layer/add layer mask/reveal all.
Now paint on the layer mask with the black brush to hide those areas, or erase to reveal again. |

kirbic you RAWK!
thanks SO much! I've been doing things the SUPER hard way!
Since you are such a genius, can you tell me if there is a PS filter that mimics a fisheye lens?

You can try filter/distort/spherize. You will need to increase the canvas size so the effect covers the entire image.
An alternative, for those not shy of quirky user interfaces, is the (free) Panorama Tools plug-in. Just as you can correct fisheye distortion with that tool, you can also simulate it. I played with that for about 2-3 minutes, and it does seem to work... it's much more flexible thatn "sphereize" but you really need to know what you're doing to get what you want.
