I'm just wondering if most people enter every challenge. Me personally, I've only entered 15 challenges this year. It's not that I don't want to submit, it's just that I can't get inspired and come up with any good ideas. Living in Italy, I lot of the times I don't have the resources I need to materialize the few good ideas I do have. Besides, the fact that my score rarely ever raises above a 6 is not very motivating either. Right now for example, there are 3 challenges to which I can submit and so far I haven't had an ideas for any of them. I had suggested the Fairy Tale challenge and then I didn't enter either because I had a great idea but no supplies or model to actually do it. I remember how eager I used to be to enter every challenge possible when I first found this website but I've lost that feeling...and I want it back! How about you?

When I first joined, I tried to do every challenge. Now, approaching my one year anniversary, I find I do fewer and fewer. If I don't have a good idea, I don't shoot or enter. Sometimes, I shoot, and decide I don't like it enough to enter. It's hard to find the time to meet the more avante-gard challenges like Fairy Tales. I prefer the challenges that are based on a technique rather than a subject. Though I couldn't enterb backlighting because my camera was broken.

I just got a new camera, and with all those challenges now, three for me to choose from, there's nothing that really interests me.

They do seem a bit repetitive too! Team sports. We had one not too long ago Team Sports without players. Where there's Fire (from before) there's smoke. Etc.

In my one year year, I've done 33 challenges; in the last 5 months (April - August), I've done 9. But I still enjoy the site and community.

Corrected Statistic: 9 from April to August; 11 from March to August.

I entered something like 89 challenges in a row. I used the challenge itself as a motivation to get a shot done by the deadline. I found that I learned more this way by makeing myself get a shot that wouldn't embarass me. I then went back after getting some votes and comments to see what I could have done better.

I did get kind of burned out and took a long layoff and have just recently come back with a new fire and determination and even a new ribbon!

I only enter the challenges that I have an interest in. I think about all of them (well, nearly), but for a lot of them I never even settle on an idea that I feel is worth shooting. For those that I do get an idea I like, or at least start to get an idea, the challenge is over before I get it done. I guess I am just too slow, or have too much going on in my life; one of the two. Those that I do get ideas for I rarely have the resources on hand, and I will only spend money to get them if I know they will be useful for many more shots or the photo is one I want to do for me.

I use to just enter any shot I could get taken to meet the challenge, just to have a score to watch (damn that update button). But not too long ago, I noticed that my photos were much better when I was able to visualize the shot clearly before shooting it -- so now I don't enter unless I have a shot I can clearly visualize before the shoot. This has slowed me down even more, but the first shot I took after this is also my first shot above 6 -- and the shot after that almost topped it as well. (we won't talk about the next, and last, one since my interest was not in the photo, but in seeing the reactino to it.)

So, all in all, I don't enter much anymore. I too prefer the technique challenges, or those that favor images with an emotive element to them.

OK, so I'm not alone. Thanks for your replies.
