I was checking around to plan my (photo) day, thinking I going down to Point Loma.
I was looking at the Fee (National Park) to get in and ran across a Photo Contest to have your best National Park photo on the 2006 Memeber Pass card.
They don't have a direct link but if you browse here:
National Parks Website
On the bottom left you will see "Your favorite Park photograph could appear on the next National Parks Pass!"
Prizes look pretty cool not to mention being the Park Pass for the year. |

Well I did make it down to Point Loma and got a lot of pics like this statue of
Juan Rogriguez Cabrillo
So I might just take a stab at it.

I picked up a contest brochure at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park but my photos from there are none too exciting. We only had an hour so I couldn't spend too much time snapping pictures. I have some interesting POV photos that I'll post later. I'm still trying to decide which vacation photos to post.

It would certainly look great on the pass! But the rules don't allow photos that have been submitted to another competition...
The rules also require digital photos to be captured in jpeg format, so that rules out the photos I took at Zion and Bryce a couple of months ago, all in RAW format. |

Nice shots, Rick! Wow! So if they were TAKEN in RAW, they can't be entered? I have a few I'd like to enter. Luckily my Sony takes them in .jpg.

No alteration, enhancing, (by computer or otherwise), morphing or retouching of original print, slide or digital image is permitted. Computer created entries and entries not satisfying the Official Rules in any respect are void.
That rule eliminates a couple of mine that I had in mind. I'll have to take another look.

I suspect they don't allow RAW since it would require alteration to convert to jpeg, which as Marjo noted is not allowed. My dauther took shots with my old Olympus, but that doesn't have quite enough resolution (only 283 ppi at 7 inches, just short of the required 300 ppi). Oh well; if I had known I'd have switched to jpeg for a few promising photos. |

Who says you can't convert the RAW to jpg? There are going to know?
