David

I was reading your post on the Tetons and then I browsed your portfolio and I did not want to distract from your original topic. Not having been around DPC much lately I have not kept up with all the photographers and their work. I really like what you have done lately and I commend you on your great work.

I hope you do not mind me praising your excellent work in this separate post :) I looked at your portfolio and then when to the TrekLens site and I loved what I saw.

I really like this shot even if it is heavily processed. It just seems to have that minor touch of humor and I like it.

TrekLens - Eruption

I also really like this shot:

TrekLens - An Essence of Speed

In your entry for the DPC "Soft Focus" challenge you made a comment on your processing work:

quote:

My steps: I took a sharp photo, the increased the saturation by 30%, which is a lot. I applied a Gaussian blur, then faded it to about 50%, using the Normal blending mode. I actually used Gaussian blur four times, and faded each time....

end quote:

Can I ask why you used Gaussian blur four times rather than once?

It must have worked your shot placed 2nd out of 99 and won a red ribbon!

You must be doing something right with:
5 blue ribbons
6 red ribbons
5 yellow ribbons

For a grand total of 16 challenge wins!

Keep up the great work!

I look forward to seeing your future shots and challenge entries.

Good call, Robin. There are so many amazing photographers on this site, but if I had to pick just one favorite it would be David. Not only does he take amazing photographs, but he's always extremely supportive and helpful in his comments and on the forums. A great photographer and an all-around great guy. Congrats on all your success here, David!

David was one of the first great photographers here at DPC who took the time to look at a beginner's (mine) portfolio and give encouragement and help. When I looked at his work in total amazement, it meant even that much more to me. He is truly one of the greats here, both as a photographer and as a human being. That is from my heart.

Wow, thanks! I just noticed this thread. I've been so busy of late, I've only entered a few challenges. Perhaps I'll have more time now. Good luck to all!
