I just started working for my university's newspaper. My second assignment was to ride with a police officer and take photos of DUI suspects. It was really interesting, here are some photos:

As a retired Recue Officer I believe that all drink/drunk drivers should be taken to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident. Maybe they will realise the stupidity of driving a car whilst drunk. If this saves the life of just one innocent person then it would be worth it.

I do not think so; I believe that there are no smart drunks. Six months ago I was hit head on by a drunk driver and lost a friend in the accident. Because of the injuries I will never work again at a job I had for 30 years. Can not drive a car now, maybe in a couple years if the headaches and dizziness goes away (which is why I can not get outside to take photos and usually have to do them in my house for the challenges. Maybe someday I will be able to lift my left arm over my head which makes it difficult sometimes working the camera. I do not hate the man who hit us; I try to understand that many of us over the years have been foolish enough to drive after a night out. But it just takes one time and matter of minutes to change many lives due to this problem. I think that the alcohol companies need to do more in advertising to address this problem. What message are they sending with a commercial of a beautiful blond on the beach drinking Miller lite?

Gene--i'm sorry to hear about the accident. I live where the drunk driving and drinking are out of control. I hate driving during the evening and on weekends or holidays. But the alcohol companies are like the tobbaco industry. They don't care that their products hurt people. And they certainly don't care about the misuse of their products or the unhappy and sometimes tragic results of using them. It's all about the money honey

A friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver when we were 18. He was just driving minding his own business and the drunk crossed to the wrong side of the road, collected a road sign in the process which then collected my friend. Needless to say he didnt have a hope. Such a waste of a life.

Drinking and driving is a big no no and I'd like to see a total ban on it. This is a screensaver I created for the Norfolk Constabulary way back for Christmas 2000 and their Anti Drink driving Campaign, its maybe a bit dated now but it still makes me think and I urge you to download it. It tells a story about John Doe and his family, the photographs are of fatal accidents caused by drunk drivers in Norfolk during 2000, they are not very graphic but you have been warned.

Just a reminder that alcohol-related driving deaths will double tonight.
Don't be an idiot...if you're drinking or doing drugs tonight, don't drive!
Please...

I think this is one of those things that you can't hear enough.
My father and myself own a auto wrecking company. My father has ownded and operated it for over 30 years. We have a rotation on the Colorado STate Patrol, and believe me you don't want us to come pull your flat car out of a ditch just so fireman can try and get you out in time.
I really don't mean to preach, and I don't mean to sound holier than thou. But, I'd rather have a few less dollars this year, and a little bit more time for photography. I ask you all, especially those in the Denver Metro area, please don't drink and drive, I really don't want to see your corpse or your mangled car. I'd rather starve to death than see one more teenager pinned between a steering wheel and a seat.
