I didn't score as well as I had hoped to in this challenge. I read several threads on 'high key' and in my original photo the face looked so dark and uninteresting so I tried some of the high key techniques and it seemed to brighten it up and make a great image, almost surreal. I really don't care about my score, I love this photo and I plan to print and frame it, but I would also like some comments/opinions. Do you think I would you have scored higher with my other entry? Any comments would be helpful. Thanks.

I think it just boils down to taste, some people like high key and some don't. I saw nothing worong with your photo, I liked it and gave it a 7. The one you entered is the best and would look great on your wall.
Good luck... |

Ooops.. I meant to comment on this one in-challenge, and forgot. Sorry! Anyway, I definitely like the high-key image better. I scored you a 6, because I felt that you might have gone a step or two *too* bright, and that you smoothed the image out a little too much for my tastes.
But certainly, in my opinion, the high key idea works. You're probably going to love having this framed :)

For me it wasn't the high key but the over smoothing that made this less than it could have been. Combined with the pink boards it gave it a feminine 80's feeling which just seemed odd. |

Thanks for your input. I will lighten up on the neatimage in the future. I love NI, it just makes things look so perfect! hehe Also, I understand about the 'pink' gate, it would have been the original red if I could have selected portions of the image. Thanks for everyones help. Cheers

Yes nice image! Poor neat imaging, although, pour moi, any neat image is poor neat image.
It's really a nice piece without the smoothing created by neat image. I like all the contrast, makes it 'pop'. |
