I just bought the 70-200 F4/L today. I also have had for a while the EF 75-300 4-5.6 III USM lens. I was worried that the new lens wouldn't be worth paying 3 times as much as I did for the older lens. I took some pictures to compare and couldn't believe the difference. The sharpness and color is like night and day.

I highly recommend this lens. It is probably the cheapest L series lens and I refer to it as a "junior L" lens but it's still awesome.

Anyone want to buy my old 75-300? :) It will go on eBay soon.

Yup, the 70-200 f/4L is great value for the money and one of Canon's best lenses. You don't realize what you missed until you shoot with an L-lens.

Where did you get your lens from? I can't seem to find one around.

Mine arrived today too :) it truly rocks. My 75-300 IS is on Ebay right now, I paid £369 for it and kick myself for not spending the extra £40 to get the f/4 in the first place.

edited to say...
Bryce, I can give you the name of a US guy who has a few in stock.

I ordered the 70-200 F4/L myself just about 2 hours ago from Beach Camera. I paid $569 plus 12.95 shipping. I've heard nothing but good things about this lens and am very much looking forward to using it.

This will be my third 'L', after the 300mm F4 (non-IS version) and the 17-40mm. I've come to the conclusion that cheap just doesn't cut it anymore.

...Now, if I can just find enough money for groceries ...

This is not a fair comparison! While I don't own the 70-200 f4L, I own the 75-300 4-5.6 III USM. I really havent use this lens much, but I guess it's alright. It is a little slow so I haven't had much luck shooting at 300mm hand held, but then again, I've always used it in less than ideal conditions. I'm saving to get either the Canon 100-400 f4.5-5.6L IS USM or the Sigma 80-400 f4.5-5.6 EX OS APO IF. I still can't decide which one although I'm leaning towards the Sigma since it is a bit cheaper.

Only $580 at B&H? Wow, I just might have to pick one up along with a 2x teleconverter or save up a little more for this.
