ok, my actual entry did really badly so i would really appreciate feedback on whether any of these might have scored higher than a 3.7

IMO
The 3rd one would have definately scored way higher that the photo you submitted

Absolutely, definitely...It actually looks like you could argue that it is in fact evidence of fairies, as opposed to a fairy drawn on paper.

I think that third one would have done pretty good!

yep, the 3rd one would have done better than the other 2. Not sure that it would have dobe much better as the voters are a fickle bunch. Most shots of figurines & drawings like the on eyou used, don;t go over very well. Most often, voters like to see a recreation of something that looks real. I mean, just look at the shots that won ribbons.
There is a very distinct formula to use if you aer trying to win ribbons. There are a lot of folks here that have that number. Most of these folks will be in the Masters' Challenge.
