		Perfect timing and exceptional clarity!
Time of day/lighting is right on.
What was the shutter speed? Sometimes just an ever-so-slight hint of motion / movement is needed on a shot like this, otherwise it's a bit too static.

So was that a click and there's the shot? Or was it in "machine gun mode"?

1/1000 No it's quite easy to capture the moment. I've never photographed drag races before. You can anticipate the launch by them reving and you know its just a matter of seconds before they launch. After that there is a split second you can get it. I have a few more shots like this, but this one seemed to be the best out of them all.

This is a 100% 800x600 crop with my Sigma 70-300mm Super Macro APO II. The photo itself was taken from the stands with a mono pod at 300mm. |

		Nice shot!

I am going to the IHRA nationals this weekend and hope to get some good pics. Too bad they wont let me up against the jersy barriers, I gotta stay behind the fence :(

I'll be using the Tarmon 70-300 and I'll start with 1/1000th (thanks for the tip) I'll definatly bring the tripod too! |
