Is it? I am not so sure (and this is me trying to understand what is being looked for here).
I absolutely love that image ... but I don't see it as being what I waould call a backlit image, as the vast majority of the light is coming from the front, and not from behind.
Have I got the wrong idea?
Fantastic photo, but I would not consider it as being backlit.

Actually the main reason why the color is so bright in the leaves is because the light is shining through them. The white highlight lines around the leaves is also an indication of the subject being lit from behind. It is like the image I posted earlier of the leaves. In mine there was no light coming from the front. |

How many times do you go out to shoot the current challenge and come across the perfect inspiration for the last challenge? It happens to me all to often. |

I always considered part of the "point" of the challenges was to get us looking at familiar subjects in new ways or trying out techniques or styles we're not used to. I often try to "use" a challenge for other photos as soon as I can as a follow-up. |

I don't know if this will work - first time trying to put an image from my portfolio into a forum message. If it doesn't, I'll be back. Anyway, the image is supposed to show backlighting (the extremely bright light was placed directly behind Lucy's head, thus causing her eyes to light up). :-)

When you reply or post you have 5 icons, the right hand one if you hover over, it says "insert thumbnail link to site image", just put the image number in there and bingo.
Preview it first if you wish.
Note: only the image number, nothing else,
Paul.

Like this? It should show how I REALLY got Lucy's bright-eyed photo.
