Just spent the morning in Photoshop CS experimenting with images I took in RAW format.
Is it me or is the image quality results in this format far better?

Is there a plug in or filter used for straigtening lines...especially shots taken with a wide angle lens?

The quality should be better though under most cicumstances it´s hard to see. The RAW gives you more flexibility regarding WB and exposure.

Not sure about the later question. Could try: Filter - Disort - Pinch and setting some small negative value.

I have a really hard time seeing a difference between the RAW output and the high quality JPG.

However, whenever I'm in a tricky lighting situation, I always switch to RAW mode. The advantage, to me, is that I can then pull a couple of different exposures out of the RAW file and then put them together in PS.

You may have heard of this trick before... Put your camera on a tripod, take one picture for the highlights and another picture for the shadows and them combine them in PS. You need the tripod in order to get perfect alignment between the two exposures.

Well... the great thing about doing this in RAW format is that you only need to take one picture, which does away with the need for a tripod!

Here is one RAW picture, two exposures.

I pulled out one exposure for the sky and another for the ground. I actually had to use a tripod for this one since it was still fairly dark.
