I have seen alot of photos that look like they have exceeded the rules of basic editing. Such as black & white photos with i object in color. I did not think you were aloud to do this. Some of the picture like this say that they have been validated. Does anyone else notice this.

This can be done within the basic rules. There have been several threads describing how to do it (search for "desaturation").

If you think there's been a rules violation, you can request a DQ, but please follow the rules yourself and vote as if the picture is legal -- if it is not, it will be gone (eventually), but if it is legal, you will have given it a fair vote.

Selective Desaturation Within the Basic Editing Rules is a tutorial written by Konador which explains how this effect can be achieved legally.
