just thought i'd mention the current edition of PCphoto is dedicated to how to. thoughi don't tend to be too fond of the magazine this one is full of techniques that are ( for the most part ) usable in the basic editing challenge, and is a pretty compact series of usefull info.
issue came in the mail 8/31/04 ( so september edition i guess )

i got that issue in the mail a couple of days ago...it does have some pretty useful tips in it.

Is the image on the cover a woman holding a photograph of a runner?

My copy cover does not have a woman holding a photograph of a runner, but a picture of a camera, computer, and a printer, but it states on the inside editorial page that their are two different covers. It really does have some nice How-To's in it as well as understanding histograms, white balance, and other camera featues.

according to the magazine itself, it is currently running a couple versions of the layout - in a test market - so i cant answer that confidently.
