I haven't seen the reviews on the A95 yet, but I'd go with the S60.
It produces out of camera some of the cleanest images I've ever seen. Also has good manual features. In short, it's a great camera.
The S1IS is good, but it's a bit of a beast and only 3mp. Not worth it for me unless you need the IS.

S1-IS. The 10x zoom rocks and the IS allows it to rock without blurring your picture. Also, no Macro mode. It doesn't need it! It has several other features and there are enough buttons on it so you can change any setting or get to any feature quickly, without navigating menus.
Here are some of my pics with it:

Personally, I LOVE canon, and would always recommend one under normal circumstances, but did you see the Pentax Optio S4i? My sister just got it. It's tiny! It's images are sooooo clear and it's so fun to use! We were going to go iwth canon since i am a canon only girl, but this was just awesome, and a good price too! Don't count it out before you check it out. Do a side by side comparison at //www.dpreview.com
;) Good luck!

But it also uses more expensive media and proprietary batteries ... Canon can use any AA batteries. Canon also has an adapter ring for a lens hood, and two externally attached lenses available.
However, I hate the EVF system which I think all the cameras in this grouping (along with the Kodak 6490 or whatever) have in common.
If you're not going to make huge prints, having a 3MP (vs. 4 or 5MP) sensor can actually be an advantage, in that you can get away with smaller cards, fewer backup CDs etc. devoted to storage of data you'll never use. If you plan to make many prints at 16x20-plus, or do a lot of tight cropping, then the larger sensor makes sense ...
Most of my recent vacation pictures were taken with a Canon S1 IS. But I'm just barely getting used to it -- most of these are in mostly-automatic mode (only change exposure compensation setting). Many of them were taken while moving in bus, car, or train ... |

That's a great deal if you don't need the super-long zoom (which I guess you can still add externally). |

My guess is they won't have many such items like the A80 "in stock". At least that's what many stores do, to get you to come in for an item which they sold out of "minutes" after the store opened. But while your there, perhaps they can interest you in... |

Sometimes you can bring the add into another store and they will give you the same deal plus an added percentage off :) |

Depends on your needs. The A95 would be my choice if camera size (portability) were the main priority. The S60 would be my choice if print size or low-light focusing were the main priorities. Otherwise, the S1 IS is the most versatile, with a great feature set and zoom range (and it's only $350). Happy shopping! |

This tactic of "bait and switch" is illegal in every(?) state -- if you suspect such an occurrence you can report it to your local District Attorney's office and the Better Business Bureau. |
