We all know the Beeb likes to take stupid amounts of money from the British public, and waste it on running repeats, unfunny sitcoms and bland dry dramas.
They also fritter it away with other surprisingly stupid time wasters.
See this: What the BBC spend your money on
here you can watch a car drive around the entire M25. If that's not good enough, they have even spent time editing it so you can start from either Starting in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire or from the Dartford Bridge.
Wow, what a fantastic waste of money.

I think most BBC stations waste money, because at the end of the day, how much interesting stuff actually happens in a given period? Meaningless drivel like you've pointed out is the result because staff are being paid that have nothing better to do. |

Something like that wouldn't have taken that long to do, probably just a day of filming, and a day or two editing the footage and slapping it up onto the website. Web designers get bored too, you know :o)

Even if it took 10 seconds it's still a wate of 10 seconds and licence payers money.
I just wait for it to be on prime time TV perhaps called "The m@% Show" - then for them to repeat it.

That's actually quite rubbish! Those clips aren't fast enough to be unusual. After all, if you've got a half-decent sports car and a complete disregard for safety & the law then this is what it would look like anyway!
I noticed that the BBC have also placed an unforgivable lack of emphasis on quality for their latest Photographer of the Year competition. Even the winners' shots are a pathetic 320 pixels wide or so - not enough to see any detail at all. And their judgement of the selections has been suspect too.

Sometimes they get it right, but this is not one of those times.

I looked at the results for emotion today funnily enough (cos I entered too) - I noted the size - pathetic - and did you notice one looked like it was scanned from a magazine.

I was thinking about this on the way home.. I think the issue isn't so much the time it took - it's the fact that BBC policy allowed it to happen in the first place. How many other local BBC websites are there with similar (lack of) interest?

Bloody hundreds, and it's not just the local stuff. What about BBC 3 the channel that cost billions yet my last 3 addresses could not receive freeview.
Fu%*ers is what they are ;D

There's PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) here in the US. But all they show is unfunny sitcoms and bland dramas that they borrow from the BBC.

Yup - quite poorly monitored/vetted in my view - open to a lot of abuse (unless I win). I entered something too BTW - and in The Natural World. What about you? The prize wouldn;t go far though - £400 - probably just enough for a one-way ticket to Scotland and a Haggis sandwich.

Very tight fisted prize eh comsidering this topic and all.
My first entry was for Emotions, an entry for the sake of it. Natural World has 2 strong images in it, adn I have one ready for hearos and solidtude although thye are not very strong.
I would like the title though "BBc Online News Photographer of the Year". I make good use of my MacUser one :D Brings my web site a lot of extra traffic.
