I was out to the nearby college campus to 'shoot anything' in the evening and when I was already out of there I spotted this guy on the trunk of a big tree. The head was facing upward so I couldn't get a very attractive background... One shot is with long exposure-->no flash, the other was with flash.
Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

yow...kudos for getting a whoopping 8sec exposure of dragonfly without any motion blur!

(1st photo..non-flash)...i really love the tones n' texture of the actual dragonfly but as your own self-critique noted it is a shame that the background tones are far too similar to the dragonfly to really make it stand out.
