You guys misunderstood what I was saying. I think it's rude to leave a comment, stating that someone's photo is not appealing, without being courteous enough to tell why. Thank you. |

vtruan is right, that goes for the voting also, may get a 9 and the next vote is a 2. Everyone sees something different in a picture. |
I have to agree and always remember:
1 - "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". The voter may not view an image the way the photographer did when he/she took the shot.
2 - If you get over 200 votes it evens out.
3 - Just as there are amateur photographers here, there are amateur votes as well and I believe the vast majority tries to vote fairly.
Just my 2 Cents.

This is the main reason I don't make too many comments anymore. On 2 previously challenges I've made comments on every picture, but have since made hardly any comments because of a PM that I received from a person with an expensive camera talking about my camera and my pictures.
I used to make the effort of giving out all least 100-150 comments a week but make so few now a days. I guess I won't make comments until I win a ribbon or buy a good camera. |
Please keep the comments coming. I think its silly to worry about someone getting theirs feelings hurt. If they have such soft skin, well so be it.
Please keep commenting. |

Only profesional photographers should be allowed to comment? Comments are people's opinions. Take them for what they are worth.

They do know what they are talking about, they tell you what they do and don't like and what they would do different. Are you saying they don't know photography and you do? Are you really better then everyone else, or is that just your opinion?

Personally I love comments - for better or for worse. It gives you insight into how other people view your work. If I get a bad vote I would like to know why!
I have now taken to PMing people to say thanks for their comments as lately there are so few who are constructively commenting on photos! Don;t think that just because you aren't a professional that you shouldn't comment! It's not your photography skills that I want to hear about, but your views on mine! |

I also find some people on this site are as protective of their photos as they are of their kids.
"What do you mean my photo/kid sucks!?! Well, my photo/kid doesn't suck as much as your kid! Etc" LOL!
It's normal. It's creation and people usually like what they create. Probably linked to some the primitive, reptilian part of our brains.
