... just looking through the galleries and clicked on the 'least comments' button. It only shows the first 1000 images that don't have a comment. I'm currently on a crusade to make my comments higher than comments received and think I'm learning more from commenting on pics than reading about photography.
Heres a thought, why don't we all go to the least commented page and do a couple of comments a day?

I use to do this. I was going to try and make it so that there were no pictures left without a comment.

| Do you suppose anyone will benefit from this besides the commenter? It seems likely that very few people go back through old pics to check for late breaking comments. As far as I can tell, there is no notification feature for when someone posts a comment to one of your pics. Maybe a PM should accompany comments on these older pics. |

Well, even if its only the commenter that benefits thats a good thing isn't it? I understand what you mean about the fotog not knowing though, if they can't be bothered checking to see if their comments have increased or if they are no longer active then they won't know what wisdom has been bestowed on their image.
*nips off to check on comments*

Ecce Signum, I agree that analyzing a photo and trying to put your analysis into words is hugely instructional. I will join you in your quest to reduce the "no comment" situation.
hsteg, I just checked your pics. You are a good photographer and you get a lot of comments. If I got that many comments, I suppose I would check frequently, too; Of course, if we all got that many comments there would be much less need for a fewest comments thread.
As a result of this thread, I just dusted off my pics to see if there were any new comments, and there were not. :(
Maybe I just need to post some more pics. :)

I wish there was something that told you when a new comment was added to one of your pictures. It is hard for a person who has a lot of images on this sit to constantly check their photos to see if a new comment was added.
Also, I wish it told me where a favorite was added. Once in a blue moon I'll go into my profile and see that someone picked my picture as a favorite, but it doesn't tell me which photo it is. That's when the searching begins.

In the beginning when I had less people pick me as a favorite I would go and comment on all their pictures.

Commented on one of your pics before you posted this so I guess you owe me one ;)
Loki, you don't get a mail when someone adds a comment (nice to have feature) but you can tell in your profile.

Signum, I never realized that you could click on that to check the comments you have recieved, is there anywhere you can click to see which pictures of mine people have picked as their favorites?
I learn more and more about this website everyday.
Thank you hsteg for the comment, It shouldn't be too hard to clone them out.

You can see how many pics have been selected as favs but can't view the selector. If the pic was from a recent challenge there is the ability to see who selected it.

You can see the selecter on all pics, challenge entries and portfolio shots. You just have to go to them one at a time to find who picked one of your portfolio shots as a fav. The challenge entries are easier to keep track of as they are listed on your profile page and you can see any changes if you watch carefully. |
