Congrats! These cameras have a learning curve so don't be let down if your first pictures aren't worthy of a ribbon. :D At least that's what I keep telling myself. |

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How empowered do you feel???????!
Story:
The last few weddings I've shot I've been working with a Pastor turned videographer. He uses a little hand held video camera while his wife shoots digital snap shots with the D70...they both take turns and ALWAYS use the onboard flash *shudder*. So in an effort to be nice, I tried showing them how to use 'manual' and adjust shutter/aperture so you don't NEED the flash when there's tons of available light. Anyway, they told me I was being ridiculous and refused to even TRY.
They must've thought I was an IDIOT since I didn't use a flash the entire day.
Just thought I'd ramble...... |

Congrats Travis, as David said above it is a steep learning curve (I'm still using that excuse:) Leave the forums alone for a while and just start hitting that shutter. Won't be long now until the lens virus gets you!

D70 is a great camera - I'm incredibly happy with mine. Several others have mentioned the learning curve: they are not kidding. Read the manual, then, with camera in hand, read it again - especially where it explains all the menu options. You don't have to know how to use them all when you are done, just know they are there. |

Congrats! It's an awesome camera. Read the manual and any online documentation you can find for it, so you can use it to its full potential.

Best used car, engagement ring, or house down payment.....I ever spent....and it gets worse too....lenses, gig cards, flashes, tripods, remote (that was cheep, but a must)....and there’s still more too...AH!. I just got a check too....going shoppingâ€Â¦ I really want a macro lens.
YOU”LL LOVE ITâ€Â¦.READ THE MANUALâ€Â¦.I kept it in the bathroom and had it read in a weekâ€Â¦.Still don’t understand all of it. But I have an idea where to look when I need it.
PS turn noise reduction offâ€Â¦

WElcome to the Nikon D70 club!
I am sure you're going to like it. I am extremely enjoying the D70. Now we can trade secrets. I know you will discover things along the way about the D70. Manuals are there to GUIDE but exploration is the key. Good luck.

I noticed that you can shoot 3fps with this camera. How do I do that. I cant find a setting. I know everyone told me to read the manual, but c'mon how many of you read the manual before playing with your new camera? |

There is a button on the left side, towards the top. Icon looks liked stacked rectangles. Press and hold, the LCD will blank out except for an "S". Rotate one of the dials on the right side and it will cycle through the shooting modes - when you get the stacked rectangles let go of everthing and start shooting! |

Whew! I thought I was the only geek on this site for a minute. I actually downloaded and printed the manual for the Digital Rebel before buying it. |
