I'm going to need some way of supporting a backdrop for a shoot I'm doing this week. Is there some sort of telescoping tripod stand that I might find at a hardware store...? I'm figuring two tripods connected with a thin PVC pipe or something, and then I can clamp the backdrops to it.

The Pro shop I go to has tripod type stands for backdrops and a rod that goes across to support say like rolls of photographic paper or etc.
I do not remember right off hand what how much they were aking for them.
I will check and see if I can find them on the net.

Not sure how much it would cost to build something from the hardware store but B&H has a econo background stand for $56

John

That stand is exactly what I was referring to but the ones I looked at were a little more heavy duty. I see they have various models available in a variety of price ranges.

I have made some of Tinker Tubes (diffusion panel, light supports) and am planning on the backdrop stand in the near future.
PVC is damn cheap and you can take it apart (can build it to break down to fit....wherever, also)
