Hi,
I'm considering between a Lowepro Stealth AW II and Crumpler Farmer's Double.
The Lowe has just what I need - 2 large SLR body capacity, laptop and up to 3 lenses. The Crumpler, on the other hand, looks more convenient to use but I'm not sure how large it's capacity is and I couldn't find much info with Google. From the small pictures that I've seen, I can't tell if it's deep enough to fit an SLR body inside (e.g. 10D with BG-ED3).
Anyone with any of these bags to comment, or any better suggestions? Thanks!

P.S. "Light" is a relative term, LOL...

Adrian,
It is not uncommon for one to have several camera bags. The very finest bag I own is a Delsey Pro. In purchasing this bag, it won out over both the Lowepro Stealth and a crumpler, but my needs may be different than yours. At least give yourself the information to compare.
I think the web site is www.delseypro.com
Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks for the reply, though I tried the link and didn't work.
Actually, I used to have a bunch of bags:
- Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II
- Lowepro MiniTrekker AW
- Lowepro Nova 5 AW
- Lowepro Off-trail 2
- Lowepro D-Res Belt Pack AW
- Lowepro Stealth Reporter 650 AW
- Tamrac Velocity 9
However, my bag line-up had a lot of overlap and many did not get used so I've so far revamped my line-up to something more optimal. I've already sold most of my bags leaving the Nature Trekker, Nova 5 and Off-Trail.
- The Off-Trail 2 I plan to use for very light travel, e.g. a walk in the park with the significant other, etc. A body, two lenses and flash is all that I need.
- The Nova 5 is for events. It can carry everything (albeit tightly packed) - 2 bodies, 5 lenses, 2 flashes, accessories. It's quite heavy and puts a strain on the shoulder, but usually in events I will have one or two cameras out and hanging around my neck so the weight of the loaded bag becomes moot point.
- The Nature Trekker is my carry-everything-but-the-kitchen-sink bag. Everything including a laptop, chargers, etc goes into the bag. It's main purpose is to bring everything to a location or venue. Once on location, if there is place to set up camp my equipment gets deployed into smaller bags like the Nova 5.
- Now I'm missing one more bag to fill the gap. I need a light backpack for daily use (e.g. going to work, etc), and I'd want to fit a laptop, two bodies and three lenses in it. This is why I was looking at the Lowepro Stealth AW or Crumpler Farmer's Double in the first place.
Anyway, as of today, I've checked out the Farmer's Double at the local store and I've deemed it unsuitable. It's nice and really padded for extra protection, but space isn't ideal for the kind of stuff that I'm looking to carry.
Therefore the next few options that I'm considering are either the Lowepro Stealth AW or the CompuTrekker. Good camera/laptop bags are quite hard to find locally as most stores do not keep them in stock, so I have to hunt for them quite a bit.
Any comments/critique on my bag line-up? :D

Adrian,
Your bag line up appears to be a solid composite of "fitting the occassion".
As you have much experience with LowePro then it certainly makes sense to add in that line. My intent in sharing for your consideration the Delsey Pro line is simply the construction and price. It is without equal in my opinion. They also have a backpack style with laptop sleeve.
I do not know how to create a link for you, what I do is go to a searc engine (I use Yahoo) and type in Delsey Pro Camera bags. It will bring up a number of sites that carry them plus a home page for Delsey Pro luggage and bags. Really first rate stuff. Extremely well thought out functions. Materials are waterproof with reverse seemed zippers. Dividers are sturdy and infinately configurable. Just my thoughts for your consideration. Obviously you like LowePro's so mabe that will be your choice.
Best of luck in your search. Sorry I can't provide a direct link. |
