I have to go on a mission in about 20 minutes. I am a photographer/videographer for the U.S. military stationed in Germany.
I get to go out with a camera and film soldiers training. They train on tanks, helicopters, city training, etc. This job is an experience I can never reproduce.
I LOVE IT!!

"It's not just a job, it's adventure" US Navy slogan. I was in the US Navy and wanted THAT job...However, to many photograghers at that time...had to settle for cleaning bathrooms...:)
Hey, have fun and be careful out there....Glad to see that others enjoy what they do! |

It depends on the mission, but sometimes they use live ammo to train. |

Live FILM is too dangerous!! I don't think I'd ever feel safe using it!
Ok, I got to go. It's time for my mission! I can't wait to find out what I'm filming tonight. It's always a suprise.

I just got back from my mission. It is about 11pm here in Germany and the mission was one of the best ones I have shot.
I won't tell you what I shot, but the name of the mission was Night Raid.

I'm stationed at Hohenfels. That is in Bavaria, Germany about an hour and a half from Munich. |

Jump on a train to Basel when you have some time off - I'll buy you a beer and show you the sights :)

That's about a 6 or 7 hour drive from here. A bit too far for a beer :) |

I'll have talk nicely to my wife :)
Though I fear that she will only laugh at me, like she has done when she has beaten me in every dpc challenge so far :)

That sounds like a lot of fun! I've always wanted to visit there! I don't know when will be my next four day weekend, but as soon as I get one I'll be jumping on that train. |

I checked on the internet
Schnellste Route
Start: Hohenfels Startpunkt
Ziel: Olching Zielpunkt
Länge: 172.600 km Zeit: 1 h 43 min
Not too far from where I live.
If you are heading towards Munich, drop me a line.
Sounds like a fun job. |

Now Munich is not far from me at all. I could go there on a normal two day weekend. |

So are you a 25V or 46R or 46Q? I take it your a 25V cause you didn't mention anything about writing stories. I was a 46R(Broadcast Journalist) and just got out of the military. Anyways, that job is pretty cool cause you get a chance to see what the military does as a whole instead of sitting in a tank your entire career. Plus, I'll soon be using it as a civilian. Have fun and stay safe. |
