Everytime I click on the Insert Image, Insert Hyperlink, Insert Thumbnail to Site Image boxes I get pushed out and I have to retype my whole message. I have to retype about 3-4 times before the message would go through.

Using Windows XP, browser IE.

Please help.

don't think it's the XP and IE cos I've got those, just tested and they're working ok for me.

Same here. And Firefox is pretty cool ... used to be a Netscape dude.

I have always been a IE guy, but this is cool. I like that it open a new window for links.

Tabbed browsing in Firefox definitely kicks butt. You definitely should try out the Tabbrowser Extensions plug-in. You can have links open in new tabs (among a bunch of other way-cool features).

Welland: wish I had some explanation for you. Those buttons are JavaScript-based that pop-up a JavaScript window, I'm wondering if you don't have something that is blocking "pop-ups" or "alerts" that is causing errors.

I have XP and IE as well, no problems for me. There must be another issue. You should try to solve the reason for the problem as it might show up elsewhere whether you use IE, Firefox or other...

Ok, this thread and others have convinced me to try firefox -- but does anyone know of a fix for it expanding the page off to the right about a quarter inch? It renders it correctly, and then expands it once it is done rendering. It is almost as if it is afraid of not having a horizontal scroll bar -- even when one is not needed.

Kinda went off topic. Can someone help?

I know it's still off topic, but mine does this as well, and only on this site. Very strange.

Sorry.

When you say you get pushed out... could you be more specific about what happens?

David
It sucks, but you can start entering the tags by hand, or composing messages in a text editor until the problem is solved.

Once I click on say the hyperlink logo/shortcut and paste my hyperlink and add the text then press ok, the whole message erases itself and I have to start all over. It happens whenever I use any of he shortcuts on the message box.

If I code by hand without using the shortcuts there's no problem but it's a pain.

That is strange. Like EddyG said, they are basic javascript that simply appends text to what is already there. So, with it erasing everything on return from the js functions, the value must not be getting sent or stored properly.

When the text vanishes, is the appended text there? That is, does it remove what you have already typed, but is otherwise successful in placing say, a hyperlink, in the text box? or is it completely empty?

In any event, the java script is not working properly. It could be the forum script file became corrupt when downloaded, and has since remained in your browser cache. This would be fixed by clearing your browser cache (or by erasing the forum.js file from your temporary internet files folder).

Also, you might want to check that javascript is fully enabled in the security settings -- resetting to one of the predefined settings, and then customizing again would do it.

David
Hopefully helpful.

I had the same problem too with FIREFOX. But it's not your browser! When you click on the buttons you are taking focus away from the message box. If you then hit backspace without clicking in the message box you will go back as if you hit the "back" button.
