I have an i950 and I tried third party ink (ink4art) and I suspect that's the main reason my colors are not true despite calibration (monitor) and profiling (printer). I'd like some suggestions for online shops or even shops in the LA area that sell Canon ink for a good price. I've seen it for about $11 at CompUSA down to about $10 at Amazon but they don't have stock. Am I asking the impossible question looking for genuine Canon ink for less than $9-10 a piece? This is a six-color printer and at $10 each, that's $60 just for ink. I'd even buy bulk to save money since I need to print a lot.

Atlex has them for around $10. Not much savings over CompUSA, and their prices are usually pretty close to as cheap as you'll find. |

I've had an i950 for nearly a year and have been using bulk ink from WeInk.com. They have an excellent reputation (from what I've seen on dpreview.com and other sites), and the ink ends up costing me around $1.50 a cartridge.

There has been a lot of buzz around Abacus lately. Many people swear by them. However they are generic inks and you may have the same problems as before.
As for Canon inks, Office Depot had a big ink sale at the beginning of the summer and the price with coupon was down to $8.50. Seems like the best thing to do is to find sales like that and stock up. I've never been able to find Canon ink for a better price. The complete lack of any real variation in price smacks at price fixing but who knows. |

Thanks, everyone, for your replies. I guess I need to be more aware of the deals available like the one mentioned by TechnoShroom despite the fact I don't really like Office Depot (my local one is always staffed by idiots). I suppose I need to bite the bullet and buy them at retail price until the next big sale.
That brings me to my next point: shelf life. The Canon ink boxes do not have expiration dates like they did for Epson ink for my Stylus Photo 800. How long is too long to keep ink? Can their life be extended if stored in the fridge? Stupid questions? Probably, but I like to ask stupid questions! :)

This is what I've been using, on both my S900 and i950: weink.com bulk ink. The colors are fantastic, and the price is right. As I indicated earlier, check dpreview.com and do a search on "weink.com"... |

My i950 was printing nicely until I switched my inks so I'm not 100% convinced that non Canon inks are right for me yet. Have you calibrated your monitor and profiled your printer? That's where I am having problems at the moment so I haven't printed anything other than simple PDFs, Word docs and other non-essentials. But I will search DPC for weink.com and hopefully you and others can prove me wrong. :)

OK, I just searched for "weink.com" and "weink" (minus the quotes) and found this thread and another by Wimbello that doesn't mention weink at all. I know the search function isn't the best but it does a decent job. Maybe you can point me to a link or two that mentions the inks. Thanks!

As I stated in both my previous posts, go to dpreview.com. From there, search their forums (click on "forums" and look for the 'find' prompt)...

Ooops! I feel like an idiot! However, I found Canon cartridges for $10.99 at databazaar.com via dealink.com. Hopefully they're a good source as people rated them pretty high at bizrate. But I will still look for weink at dpreview. :)
