Got this sunset pic tonight. Kinda like it but it could be better. Just resized for posting, no colour alterations. Would appreciate ideas and advice on how to improve. Have got ps7, but limited skills as yet!! (a.k.a ps dummy :P)
cropped and resized
turned round and this heron was coming into land so quickly snapped off a couple of shots. poor light but I liked the silhouette.

The sunset shot would definitely be a candiate for bracket shooting. +1EV, 0EV, -1EV and blending in Photoshop. Remember to use a tripod when bracketing for Photoshop blending.

Not sure why you feel you should do anything sue - they are nice as they are. I wouldn't touch a thing.
If you did play - here is an idea - although as i said I would leave it as it is.
Changed color to an electric strom blue - added some highlights in the sky - burnt the top - leveled it up - and added a bit more foreground.

Thanks for that Faidoi and JP.....I really like what you did with it JP, and will prob take your advice on leaving it as it. Just wasn't sure about the touches of blue in the sky. Tried desaturating it but didn't look right, sort of bland! Lost the dramatic appeal of the murky coloured clouds. (LOL don't ya love my descriptive terms!)
Tried the dodge and burn tools - they're pretty powerful aren't they!!......haven't quite mastered them is an understatement!
Have been trying to figure out ps7 and thought this would be a good learning image.
edited ~ really must get spellcheck! :)

I would sharpen all of the shots using unsharp mask, and then maybe mess around with the brightness, and enhance some of the colors with levels, curves, or hue/saturation. Not that these pictures aren't beautiful, it's just that they could look even better. |
