From a SportsShooter thread:

" My local Ritz camera is shipping a bunch of D70 kits back because of flaws in the imaging sensors. They are visible as irregularly shaped discolorations that are about 5-10 pixels in diameter. They are only visible against a flat background like a sky.

I've heard that Nikon refuses to cover this flaw under warranty, chalking it up to damage in shipping."

Happened to me to , 2 dots, mostly visible against light b/g and sky, sent it back, sensor was cleaned, problem gone, was done under warranty (live in uk)
