I have couple 30-year-old snaps of my DAD and Mom. Now I want to scan them and do restoration work.
Snaps are of size 5x7 and 4x6.
I wan to make 8x10 from them.
So after I scan them at 600 dpi than , 5x7 become 5x7 is printed as 5x7 only but 600dpi so how do I make into 8x10, do I need resize from 600dpi-300dpi just they do in tutorial only other way round i.e instead of increasing by 5% I reduce by 5% from 600 till I reach 300

In photoshop just change the dimension to 8x10, and make sure "Resample" is not selected. Then it should print at the right size with plenty of DPI.

when i do as you told me DPI does get reduce but not to 300 but say to 445.
I am confused as i have not scanned much in life.
What is confusing me is that when i scan a 5x7 @ 600dpi than print size is 5x7 but 600dpi but i want to make 8x10 from this so how i go about it |

It doesn't have to be exactly 300dpi to print does it? Can't you just print at 445 DPI? If not, then put "Reseample" back on, change to 8x10, then change the DPI to 300 and it'll be fine. Resampling down may mean you have to sharpen it slightly afterwards, but not too much, if at all.
